Evaluation Mechanism

ASSESSMENTS AND EXAMINATIONS

  • The weightage for different components of assessments for programmes offered through ODL/OL mode shall be as under.
  1. Formative Assessment (Continuous Internal Assessment): Maximum 30%.
  2. Summative assessment (End Semester Examination): Minimum 70%
  • End Semester Assessment Pattern for Open and Distance Learning Mode: All End Semester Examinations or Term-End Semester for programmes offered through Open and Distance Learning mode shall be conducted through proctored examination (online testing) within Territorial Jurisdiction, in the examination centre located in the headquarters (ARKA JAIN University Campus). The Examinations shall be under the direct control and responsibility of the University.
  • Appearing for semester-end theory examination for each course is mandatory and a student should secure a minimum of 40% marks for MBA, BBA, MCA and BCA programme, in each course in semester-end examination for the successful completion of the course.
  • The components of continuous assessment for theory courses shall be finalized in the examination committee meeting.
  • For the first attempt of the arrear theory examination, the internal assessment marks scored for a course during the first appearance shall be considered for grading along with the marks scored in the semester-end arrear examination. From the subsequent appearance onwards, the marks scored in the semester-end examination to award grade and the internal assessment marks secured during the first attempt of the examination will only be considered. There will be no provision for any other internal examination.
  • The procedures followed for awarding marks and fixing grades for ODL/OL programmes such as MBA, BBA, MCA & BCA are the same as for programmes offered in the regular (conventional) mode.

Grade in Each subject is awarded based on performance in Continuous Internal Assessment as well as end Semester Examination

COMPUTATION OF SGPA AND CGPA

The University has adopted UGC recommended Procedure for computation of Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):

 

(a) The SGPA is the ratio of sum of the product of the number of credits with the grade point scored by a student in all the subject taken by a student and the sum of the number of credits of all the subjects undergone by a student, i.e.

 

Where Ci is the number of credits of the ith Course and Gi is the grade point scored by the students ith Subject.

 

(b) The CGPA is also calculated in the same manner taking into account all the subjects undergone by a student over all the semesters of a programme, i.e.

 

Where Si is the SGPA of the ith Semester and Ci is the total number of Credits in that semester.

 

(c) The SGPA and CGPA shall be rounded off to 2 decimal points and reported in the transcripts.

REGULATION FOR PASSING

5≤CGPA<6 will be equivalent to pass in Second Class

6≤CGPA<7.5 will be equivalent to pass in First Class

CGPA≥7.5 will be equivalent to pass in First Class with Distinction

Student Support and Interventions:

To support students in meeting the participation requirements, we have established a dedicated student support team. This team monitors participation levels and reaches out to students who are at risk of falling below the 75% threshold. Personalized interventions, including academic counselling and additional support sessions, are offered to these students.

UFM: Unfair Means

F: Failed in Subjects

SP: Special Examination

 

The procedures followed for awarding marks and fixing grades for ODL. Programmes such as MBA, BBA, MCA & BCA are as same as the programmes offered in the regular mode (Conventional mode).
